OPITO After School Engineering Clubs Launched

Two new after school clubs funded by OPITO, the oil and gas academy, were launched on 24th and 25th February. The clubs will be running every Wednesday and Thursday at Sir John Leman and Thorpe St. Andrew High Schools.

The clubs will put theories from the whole range of STEM subjects into practice through project based activities.

The first project which is being tackled by both schools is to design and build a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) with both schools looking at the programming of NXT robots as a first step.

The next stage for these after school clubs is to link them with feeder primary schools which should take place soon after the Easter holiday.
